The best part of my job is to meet new people and to go to different conferences both in Denmark and internationally. Most of them are educational conferences, but once in a while I get an invitation to speak at conferences from other industries.
This time I was doing a presentation about telepresence robots at Roboinsight in the Elsinore.
The agenda consisted of speakers from various industries, but the common theme was robotics.
It was a great experience to listen to all the interesting presentations, and especially the one from CEO of Universal Robots, Esben Østergaard, I found very interesting.
At the moment, there is a lot of talk about industry 4.0 (the fourth industrial revolution), and what characterises it and how we can adapt to it. Esben on the other hand was talking about, what he believes could be the theme of Industry 5.0.
Whereas 4.0 focuses on the digital transformation and the technology that surrounds it, the 5.0 will focus on human/robotics interaction, meaning how to work and live with robots.
I found that very fascinating, because that’s also one of our focus points in our use of telepresence robots. How do you as a teacher, teach a child that is a robot? What are the ethics when it comes to teaching robots? And how do you adapt the classroom, so it fits the robot?
These are just some of the questions we seek answers to, and we constantly develop our mindset so the human/robot interaction runs as smoothly as possible.
After I did my presentation I got a chance to meet former Minister of Industry, Brian Mikkelsen for a quick talk about Telepresence and humanoid robots.
